As a community-based organization that aims to create a sustainable urban-rural partnership, we have been fortunate to receive the following awards and distinctions

2012

FRESHFARM Markets received the 2012 Mayor's Sustainability Award in recognition of 15 years of creating producer-only farmers markets and related programs that make fresh, healthy food more accessible and affordable to communities in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.

FRESHFARM Markets Co-Founders and Co-Executive Directors Ann Yonkers and Bernie Prince received Washingtonian magazine's "Green Giant" Award for their tireless efforts to educate the public about food and environmental issues while also providing economic opportunities for farmers and artisanal producers over the past 15 years.

2011

Thoth Award for Excellence in Communications for FRESHFARM Markets Communication and Social Media Plan; award shared by FRESHFARM Markets, 4GreenPs (Lynn Miller) and Pat Lute

FRESHFARM Markets is admitted to the Mid-Atlantic EarthShare

2008-2009

The Catalogue for Philanthropy-Greater Washington selected FRESHFARM Markets to be featured in the 2008-09 Catalogue. A panel of 60 expert reviewers from area foundations, corporate giving programs, larger nonprofit organizations, and the DC government evaluated nearly 200 applications; FRESHFARM Markets is one of 68 outstanding nonprofits to be featured.

Farmland Feast recognized as the locavore event of the year by DC Modern Luxury magazine

Bernadine Prince and Ann Yonkers recognized as WETA Hometown Heroes

2007

Bernadine Prince and Ann Yonkers received the Innovator Award from the Washington, DC, Economic Partnership, for creating producer-only farmers' markets in the greater metro DC area since 1997
